From the Cervelo website, "With a frame weight of less than 1000 grams, only two frames on the ProTour are a hair lighter (with the Cervelo R3 being the lightest). But because of the aerodynamic advantages, the regular Soloist Carbon was already the fastest bike in most situations, if not quite the lightest. The SLC-SL puts an end to any uncertainty in this regard, and it combines its aerodynamics with such a low weight that it is clearly the best choice in any terrain. The SLC-SL is the ultimate weapon for a rider that enjoys attacking the peleton. - Smartwall/High Quality Carbon for Power Efficiency: Widely accepted as the creators of the most power efficient bikes in the world, Cervelo's specifically shaped high density carbon also eliminates vertical harshness (providing for a smoother ride and less fatigue). Extra carbon is inserted in areas that require added strength to maximize power transfer in the rear triangle (drivetrain) and across tubing susceptible to failure. Minimum carbon is used in areas designed to flex and absorb vibrations in the road. Of course, the quality of carbon that Cervelo uses is so high, that even minimum material easily passed every safety test imaginable.
